Basketball Recap: Mayville Comes Up Short

Mayville was the 85-56 winner over St. Mary's Springs when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Mayville Cardinals took a 63-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Mary's Springs Ledgers on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 285th, while the Ledgers are ranked 116th).

Mayville's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for St. Mary's Springs, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-5.

The future could be bright for both Mayville and St. Mary's Springs: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Mayville will look to extend Omro's six-game losing streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, St. Mary's Springs will try to hand North Fond du Lac their 16th-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
