Preview: Hardaway Hawks vs. Bainbridge Bearcats
The Hardaway Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Bainbridge Bearcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
While it was all tied up 28-28 at halftime, Hardaway was not quite Shaw's equal in the second half on Friday. Hardaway was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 58-57 to Shaw. Hardaway has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their defeat, Hardaway saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lamell Mims, who scored 14 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Mekhi Benton, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Bainbridge strolled past Seminole County with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 65-47. The win made it back-to-back wins for Bainbridge.
Hardaway has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season. As for Bainbridge, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.
Hardaway lost to Bainbridge on the road by a decisive 50-33 margin when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Hardaway, Vontrelle Ervin (who scored nine points along with four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
