Baseball Recap: Capistrano Valley Takes a Loss

Capistrano Valley lost against Tesoro back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Capistrano Valley fell just short of Tesoro by a score of 2-1. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Capistrano Valley got a good showing from Spencer Korzep, who struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Korzep has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Capistrano Valley saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Collins, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Capistrano Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7-1. As for Tesoro, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-10.

While Capistrano Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
