Softball Game Preview: Waverly Tigers vs. Circleville Tigers

Waverly will face off against Circleville at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Waverly lost 7-1 to Valley on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Indians: they've now lost three in a row.

Lexi Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

Meanwhile, Circleville didn't have quite enough to beat Logan Elm on Monday and fell 3-2. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Circleville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kayla Fleck, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. That run was Fleck's first of the season.

Circleville's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Waverly, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
