Softball Game Preview: Pearce Mustangs vs. Guyer Wildcats

The Pearce Mustangs will take on the Guyer Wildcats on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a six-game winning streak alive.

Pearce is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They skirted past Haltom 3-1.

Lexie Landers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Pearce's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Saylor Jackson, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Guyer put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's fifth consecutive shutout on Friday. They didn't even let Rock Hill on the board, marking the Wildcats' second-straight 12-0 shutout. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 contests by six runs or more this season.

Guyer's victory bumped their record up to 28-2. As for Pearce, their win bumped their record up to 18-12.

Pearce suffered a grim 17-1 defeat to Guyer in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
