Basketball Recap: Tippecanoe Valley Extends Winning Streak to Six

Tippecanoe Valley had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.4 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Western Panthers 47-45. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Vikings also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Tippecanoe Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Stephen Akase, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. What's more, Akase also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ian Cooksey, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 18 points.

Western's loss came despite strong showings from Carter Biggs and Hudson Biggs. Carter went 7 of 11 to rack up 18 points, while Hudson went 5 for 7 en route to 12 points and five rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Carter now owns an excellent 40.5% three-point shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Thurston, who posted five points.

Tippecanoe Valley's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. As for Western, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tippecanoe Valley will challenge North Miami at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Western, they will face off against Oak Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
