Basketball Game Preview: Early Longhorns vs. Peaster Greyhounds

The Early Longhorns will head out to square off against the Peaster Greyhounds at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Peaster took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Early, who comes in off a win.

Early will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Millsap, who they had gone 1-6 against in their seven prior meetings. Early took down Millsap 43-29 on Tuesday. Given the Longhorns' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 461st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 1166th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Peaster lost to Eastland on the road by a 47-30 margin on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Greyhounds in their matchups with the Mavericks: they've now lost four in a row.

Peaster's loss dropped their record down to 19-6. As for Early, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 15-10 record this season.

Early took their victory against Peaster in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 42-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for Early since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
