Preview: Mattamuskeet Lakers vs. Columbia Wildcats
Mattamuskeet has been on the road for three straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Columbia Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Mattamuskeet suffered their biggest loss since November 30, 2023 on Thursday. They were dealt a 78-48 defeat at the hands of Pungo Christian Academy. Mattamuskeet was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-24.
Meanwhile, Columbia didn't have too much trouble with Hobgood Charter at home on Friday as they won 68-53.
Columbia got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ariyeh Spencer out in front who scored 16 points along with nine assists and seven steals. That's the first time this season that Spencer posted eight or more assists. Jayden Sawyer was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.
Mattamuskeet bumped their record down to 6-6 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Columbia, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season.
Mattamuskeet didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Columbia in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 50-46 victory.
