Football Game Preview: Collinsville Pirates vs. Chico Dragons

Collinsville has gone a perfect 3-0 against Chico recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. Collinsville will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.

Collinsville is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 44-20 margin over Coleman last Friday.

Collinsville found their leader in sophomore Paxton Davidson, who threw for 278 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also rushed for 61 yards. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 52 yards. Chad Davidson was Paxton's top target, picking up 86 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Meanwhile, Chico was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 37-30 to Olney. The Dragons were up 30-16 in the third quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Collinsville's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.5 points over those games. As for Chico, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Everything came up roses for Collinsville against Chico in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 44-0 win. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
