A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cougars face off against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Monday, Quince Orchard lost to Clarksburg on the road by a 50-36 margin. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Coyotes are ranked 43rd).

Quince Orchard's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Evelyn Steele, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine blocks, and Ayanna Anspach, who posted 12 points and five boards. Steele continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Sydney Richardson was another key player, putting up four points.
Meanwhile, Walter Johnson came up short against Whitman on Monday and fell 54-43. The Wildcats have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Quince Orchard will need to focus on slowing down Naamiah Corke, one of several Walter Johnson players who made an impact when they last played. She dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most points Corke has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kendall Alexander, who put up eight points in addition to nine steals and five boards.
Even though they lost, Walter Johnson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive games.
Walter Johnson's defeat dropped their record down to 15-4. As for Quince Orchard, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Quince Orchard has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Walter Johnson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 38.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
