Recap: Horizon Honors Eagles vs. Santa Cruz Valley Dust Devils
The Horizon Honors Eagles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 78-39 win over Santa Cruz Valley. Horizon Honors has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 22 points or more this season.
Horizon Honors had a senior duo take command as Matthew McEnaney almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine assists and Diego Torres scored 17 points along with six rebounds and five assists. McEnaney hasn't dropped below two blocks for 16 straight games. Another player making a difference was Calvin Mccrory, who scored 13 points.
Santa Cruz Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Esequiel Perez, who scored ten points along with four steals. Perez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games he's played. Daniel Contreras was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.
Horizon Honors has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. As for Santa Cruz Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.
Horizon Honors' homestand continues as they prepare to take on Tempe Prep at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. Horizon Honors is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55 points per game this season. As for Santa Cruz Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Sequoia Pathway Academy at 7:00 p.m. Santa Cruz Valley is facing Sequoia Pathway Academy at the right time seeing as Sequoia Pathway Academy is stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
