Soccer Recap: Pilgrim's Undefeated Season over After Seven Games

After soaring to five goals the game before, Pilgrim was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They fell just short of the Smithfield Sentinels by a score of 2-1. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Pilgrim came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island soccer rankings (they are ranked first, while Smithfield are ranked 39th).

Pilgrim's goal came courtesy of Christopher Williams, who's now up to two this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Pilgrim fell to 6-1. As for Smithfield, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-6-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Pilgrim will face off against rival St. Raphael Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Smithfield is set to square off against their familiar foe North Providence at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
