Preview: Antonian Prep Apaches vs. Concordia Lutheran Crusaders
The Antonian Prep Apaches will head out on the road to face off against the Concordia Lutheran Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Antonian Prep's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
Antonian Prep had a rough season last year, but they look ready to turn that poor record around this year. They came out on top against St. Pius X by a score of 38-28 on Friday. Given Antonian Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 261st, while St. Pius X is ranked 736th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Concordia Lutheran was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 33-27 to Central Catholic. Concordia Lutheran has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Antonian Prep's victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.2 points per game. As for Concordia Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Antonian Prep beat Concordia Lutheran 27-14 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Antonian Prep since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
