Volleyball Game Preview: Millard North Mustangs vs. Lincoln North Star Navigators

The Millard North Mustangs will square off against the Lincoln North Star Navigators at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Millard North and Elkhorn South faced off in a cross-town battle on Thursday. The Mustangs lost 3-0 to the Storm. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Storm: they've now lost five in a row.

While Millard North was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Elkhorn South's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-19, 25-22.

Defeat or not, Millard North got some senior leadership from Sarah Faust and Hayden Sliva. Faust had 11 assists and seven digs, while Sliva had 11 digs and three assists. Sliva has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Meanwhile, Lincoln North Star entered their tilt with Lincoln Northeast on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Rockets with a sharp 3-0 victory.

Lincoln North Star was especially dominant in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-16, 25-18.

Lincoln North Star's win bumped their record up to 23-3. As for Millard North, their loss dropped their record down to 11-13.

Millard North beat Lincoln North Star 2-0 when the teams last played back in September of 2018. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Navigators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
