Softball Recap: Palm Harbor University Snaps 15-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Palm Harbor University dropped their record down to 18-5 on Thursday, which also ended the team's 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Calvary Christian Warriors. The Hurricanes were not able to make up for their loss to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in March of 2021.

Mylie Stout spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Palm Harbor University saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Via Muller, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Calvary Christian, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 22-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games.

On Calvary Christian's side, the team relied heavily on Emma Bell, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylee Rano, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Palm Harbor University and Calvary Christian should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Hurricanes (ranked 55th) will meet Pinellas Park (ranked 301st) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Calvary Christian will square off against George Jenkins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (3 vs. 105). The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 1.6, the Eagles 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
