5A Region IV District 29 recap September 4, 2013

United's Isidro Alaniz recorded the longest rushing play in 5A Region IV District 29 this season in his game against Southwest last week. Alaniz ran for 56 yards on the play and finished with 73 on the day as his team bested the Dragons.

Fans got a thrill when Aaron Swain and Marc Lozoya connected against Alice. The connection went for 90 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.

Xavione Skaggs was the best running back in the league this week. In 14 carries, he ran for 125 yards as Alexander fell to the Coyotes.

Lozoya was the best wideout in 5A Region IV District 29 this week as the Bulldogs lost to Alice. Lozoya tallied 6 receptions for 204 yards. Travis Allan helped Alexander's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 62 yards.

Derek Esparza put up the best numbers through the air as United defeated Southwest. He finished with a total of 12 completions for 209 yards and 4 touchdowns. Esparza's favorite target this week was David Garcia, who caught 4 passes for 100 yards.

He went 12-23 with 0 interceptions.

David Sanchez's team moved up to 426 from 605 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Longhorns climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Peter Wagner's team 42-14.
