Softball Game Preview: Benet Academy Redwings vs. Nazareth Academy Roadrunners

Benet Academy has won four straight games at home, while Nazareth Academy has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Redwings will welcome the Roadrunners at 4:30 p.m. Benet Academy knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Nazareth Academy likes a good challenge.

On Tuesday, Benet Academy needed a bit of extra time to put away Waubonsie Valley. They came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 12-7. The win continues a trend for the Redwings in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won three in a row.

Alaina Rosner was incredible, going 3-for-6 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Margaret Carr was another key player, going 2-for-6 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Benet Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Nazareth Academy and Marian Catholic had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Roadrunners narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Spartans 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Roadrunners have posted since May 31, 2024.

Benet Academy's victory bumped their record up to 11-14. As for Nazareth Academy, their win bumped their record up to 13-11.

Everything went Benet Academy's way against Nazareth Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Benet Academy made off with a 10-0 victory. Do the Redwings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Roadrunners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
