Basketball Recap: Bishop Reicher Catholic Takes a Loss

Bishop Reicher Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 18th straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 47-13 loss at the hands of the Providence Prep Rams. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1405th, while the Rams are ranked 446th).

Providence Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lilly Hodge, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 13 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Hodge is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elle Morrison, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 12 points and five steals.

Bishop Reicher Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Providence Prep, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1.

Bishop Reicher Catholic will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Valor Preparatory Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 27, 2025. As for Providence Prep, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 47-6 victory against Methodist Children's Home on the 7th.
