Basketball Recap: Littleton's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

If Westminster wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Littleton, they should've done a better job of containing Emma Bird. The Littleton Lions walked away with a 53-46 victory over the Westminster Wolves on Friday thanks in part to Bird, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 20 boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in rebounds.

Despite the loss, Westminster still got an impressive performance from Naomi Saldana, who posted 22 points and seven steals. That was a full 47.8% of Westminster's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Leila Kong, who put up five points in addition to 20 boards and three steals.

Littleton moved to 4-8 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Westminster, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.

Littleton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-40 victory against Conifer on the 22nd. Westminster has also already played their next matchup, a 49-39 win against Brighton on the 21st.
