Baseball Game Preview: Howard Tech Hustlin' Tigers vs. East Ridge Pioneers

The Howard Tech Hustlin' Tigers will challenge the East Ridge Pioneers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Howard Tech has three straight victories, East Ridge has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Howard Tech will bounce into Saturday's game after beating Lookout Valley, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Howard Tech walked away with a 21-17 win over Lookout Valley on Friday.

Quinterious Allen was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Devon Holten-McKinney, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances.

Meanwhile, East Ridge came up short against Oakwood Christian on Friday and fell 13-8.

East Ridge got a big performance out of Jacob Davis, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Tyler Madden, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

East Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Howard Tech, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Howard Tech suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to East Ridge in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Howard Tech avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
