Softball Game Preview: Rolling Meadows Mustangs vs. Hoffman Estates Hawks

The Rolling Meadows Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Hoffman Estates Hawks at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Rolling Meadows is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

Rolling Meadows was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Wheeling on Wednesday. The Mustangs blew past the Wildcats 13-4. Considering the Mustangs have won six matches by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Caylee Del Boccio, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Chase Hembry was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Rolling Meadows kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Hoffman Estates was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat. They came up short against Fremd, falling 17-6.

Vicky Rivera made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sammie Mares, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Rolling Meadows' win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 6-12. As for Hoffman Estates, their loss dropped their record down to 1-15.
