The Royal Highlanders will face off against the Newbury Park Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Royal has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Royal fell victim to Chaminade and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 13-0 to the Eagles. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Highlanders' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Meanwhile, Newbury Park got themselves on the board against Channel Islands on Friday, but Channel Islands never followed suit. They blew past the Raiders 14-0. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won six matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Mykala Paradis made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Quinn Reynolds looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Brooklyn Ramirez was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Maya Garza was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one run.
Newbury Park's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Royal, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
