Basketball Recap: Northeast Comes Up Short

Northeast and Blanche Ely squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Northeast had to settle for second. They were dealt a 71-40 defeat at the hands of the Blanche Ely Tigers. The loss continues a trend for the Hurricanes in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the loss, Northeast still got an impressive performance from Lloyd Ruskin Jr., who posted nine points. The dominant performance also gave Ruskin Jr. a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (60%). Jonathan Senior was another key player, putting up eight points and six boards.

It was another big night for JAYELEN JONAS, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds for Blanche Ely. JONAS is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last ten games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Justin Snell, who put up 12 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Northeast's defeat dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Blanche Ely, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.
