Basketball Recap: Haylee Mathas' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Riverton Parke over Eminence

Riverton Parke was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 46-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eminence Eels. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 41-38 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Riverton Parke lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Haylee Mathas, who posted ten points along with six rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Mathas has posted since back in January of 2024. Corinne Loomis was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

Eminence was led to victory by Khloee Kirk and Sophia Saucerman. Kirk had 21 points, while Saucerman put up 18 points. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Saucerman has scored at least a third of Eminence's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Webb, who posted five points.

Riverton Parke's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Eminence, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Columbus Christian the next time they take the court. Riverton Parke will head out to face Columbus Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while Eminence will play them later in the day, at 1:30 p.m.
