Softball Game Preview: Westminster Christian Warriors vs. American Patriots

Westminster Christian is on a six-game streak of home wins, while American is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Warriors will host the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Westminster Christian 3.1, American 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Westminster Christian is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Wednesday. They lost 8-1 to the Stallions. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Warriors have suffered since March 6th.

Palmetto hit American with a eight-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Patriots took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. Patriots fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Panthers since on Monday.

Yianelis Rivera made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Westminster Christian's loss dropped their record down to 15-7-1. As for American, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.

Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Westminster Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like American struggles in that department as they've averaged .372. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
