Moriarty had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Espanola Valley Sundevils by a score of 9-5. That's the fourth time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 16-2 victory two weeks ago.
Isabella Gallegos made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, Shae Rios was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sienna Rios, who went 1-for-3 with one triple.
Moriarty pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Espanola Valley, Taos, and Taos. As for the Sundevils, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season.
Moriarty will welcome Pojoaque Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pintos will need to watch out since the Elks/Elkettes have now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests. As for Espanola Valley, they are taking a road trip to face off against Taos at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Sundevils are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
