The Saguaro Sabercats will head out to square off against the Desert Mountain Wolves at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Saguaro will bounce into Monday's match after beating Arcadia, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Sabercats skirted past the Titans 3-1. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Sabercats as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Sadie Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Saguaro's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Malina Morones, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles. Those two doubles gave Morones a new career-high. Hailey Holliday was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Desert Mountain waltzed into their game on Thursday with 15 straight wins... but they left with 16. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 2-0 shutout.
Lilly 'Goose' Goodwin made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. Goodwin was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on McKinsey Beyer, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Desert Mountain pushed their record up to 19-1-1 with the win, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Saguaro, their record is now 9-12.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Saguaro hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Desert Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Saguaro suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Desert Mountain when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Sabercats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
