Softball Game Preview: Gateway College Preparatory Gators vs. Salado Eagles

The Gateway College Preparatory Gators will challenge the Salado Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Gateway College Preparatory 1.3, Salado 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Salado will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Gateway College Preparatory extended their winning streak to five on Friday. The Gators never let Lampasas get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Gators' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three matchups.

April Monge was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. Carolina Rivera was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Gateway College Preparatory always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lampasas only posted an OBP of .000.

Meanwhile, Salado unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-game winning streak on Saturday. They came up short against Grandview, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Gateway College Preparatory pushed their record up to 19-1-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Salado, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-5.
