Basketball Game Preview: Kendrick Cherokees vs. Spencer Greenwave

Kendrick has won five straight games at home, while Spencer has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Kendrick Cherokees will host the Spencer Greenwave at 7:30 p.m.

Kendrick is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Columbus just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 60-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Devils. The contest marked the Cherokees' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, Spencer strolled past Shaw with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 60-41.

Kendrick better keep an eye on Kerry Griffin. He was instrumental in Spencer's win, going 8 for 17 on his way to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Demarcus Horne, who posted 11 points.

Spencer has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for Kendrick, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-2.

Kendrick was dealt a bruising 77-43 defeat at the hands of Spencer in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Kendrick avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
