Basketball Recap: Taft Greyhounds vs. George West Longhorns
Taft was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss. They lost 63-42 to the George West Longhorns. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Longhorns this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 63-38 on January 2nd.
William Balew was nothing short of spectacular for George West: he dropped a double-double with 21 points and 12 boards. That's the most rebounds Balew has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Christopher Bernal, who shot 67% from the field on his way to 13 points and five boards.
Taft's defeat dropped their record down to 5-19. As for George West, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-18.
Coincidentally, Taft and George West will both be playing Odem the next time they take the court. The Longhorns will head out to face the Owls at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, while the Greyhounds will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
