Preview: Overfelt Royals vs. Leigh Longhorns
Overfelt has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge The Leigh Longhorns at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Overfelt's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three matches.
Last Friday, Overfelt got the win against Westmont by a conclusive 46-21. With Overfelt ahead 22-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Meanwhile, Leigh had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against Willow Glen by a score of 17-7.
Leigh got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyler J. Donaldson out in front who rushed for 87 yards, and also threw for 189 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Shayan Shariat, who gained 128 total yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Overfelt to 4-3 and Leigh to 5-2.
Overfelt skirted past Leigh 16-14 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Overfelt since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
