After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bishop O'Dowd, Mt. Eden was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hayward Farmers a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Monarchs, who have now won six contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Kealani Temoche made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Shelby Newcomb was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Jasmine Cruz was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.
Mt. Eden kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
