Recap: Mifflin Punchers vs. Northland Vikings
The Mifflin Punchers suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 74-44 defeat at the hands of Northland. While losing is never fun, Mifflin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 524th, while Northland is ranked 179th).
Mifflin's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was John Glover, who scored 21 points. Glover hasn't dropped below 15points for six straight games. Mike Woodyard was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Mifflin and nudges their season record down to 5-9. As for Northland, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mifflin and Beechcroft will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Beechcroft has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Northland, Northland and Centennial will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Centennial knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Northland likes a good challenge.
