Basketball Game Preview: Clovis West Golden Eagles vs. Clovis Cougars

Clovis West is 10-0 against Clovis since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Clovis West Golden Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Clovis Cougars at 5:30 p.m. Clovis West is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.5 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Clovis West beat Buchanan 52-43. The win was all the more spectacular given the Golden Eagles' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while the Bears are ranked 26th).

It was another big night for Dj Stickman, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jalen Sarden, who went 5 for 9 en route to 11 points.

Meanwhile, Clovis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They fell 53-43 to Clovis East. While the Cougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Timberwolves 18-10 in the first quarter.

Clovis West's victory bumped their record up to 12-15. As for Clovis, their loss dropped their record down to 9-18.

Everything came up roses for Clovis West against Clovis in their previous matchup back in January, as the squad secured an 87-54 win. In that matchup, Clovis West amassed a halftime lead of 54-22, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
