Football Recap: Highlands Piles Up the Points Against Blazer

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Highlands had no problem doing just that on Friday. They claimed a resounding 45-7 win over the Blazer Tomcats. The Bluebirds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by 28 points or more this season.

Rio Litmer had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 57 yards and two scores on only six carries, and also threw for 130 yards and one TD on only 12 passes. Those two rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Highlands didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Michael Tincher and Tayden Lorenzen.

Highlands is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.5 points over those games. As for Blazer, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

Looking ahead, Highlands will take on Corbin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Redhounds' defense has only allowed 15 points per game this season, so the Bluebirds' offense will have their work cut out for them. Blazer does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
