Football Recap: Lincoln Park Takes a Loss

Lincoln Park fell victim to Morgan Park and their airtight defense on Saturday. They were dealt a 50-0 defeat at the hands of the Mustangs. The Lions lost against the Mustangs in their previous head to head back in September of 2019, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 30-7 score last time.

A big part of Morgan Park's victory came down to the chemistry between Ronald Smith Jr. and his top target Travezz Jones. Smith Jr. rushed for 54 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries while Jones picked up 143 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Jones' longest reception was for an impressive 54 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total.

This is the second loss in a row for Lincoln Park and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for Morgan Park, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-2.

Looking ahead, Lincoln Park will host Johnson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will be up against the Pumas' rather soft defense (which has allowed 49.33 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Morgan Park, they will square off against King at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Jaguars' defense has only allowed 13.5 points per game this season, so the Mustangs' offense will have their work cut out for them.
