Basketball Game Preview: Elgin Wildcats vs. Hendrickson Hawks

Elgin is 1-9 against Hendrickson since November of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Elgin Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Hendrickson Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Elgin is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against East View on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Elgin was dealt a 71-36 loss at the hands of East View. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-12.

Meanwhile, Hendrickson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. The game between them and East View didn't end well, with Hendrickson falling 52-37. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 666th, while the Patriots are ranked 92nd).

Elgin now has a losing record at 14-15. As for Hendrickson, their loss dropped their record down to 9-23.

Elgin didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Hendrickson when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 47-42 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Elgin since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
