Recap: Seymour Wildcats vs. Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic Yellowjackets
After flying high against the Wolcott Eagles last Friday, The Seymour Wildcats came back down to earth. Seymour took a 20-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic on Saturday. Despite 105 more yards than Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic, Seymour couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Anthony Cortello threw for 201 yards and a touchdown. Michael Rossetti was his top target, picking up 71 receiving yards. On the ground, TJ Lester gained 60 total yards and a touchdown.
Nolan Risedorf looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 70 yards and two touchdowns.
Seymour now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 3-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seymour will take on St. Paul Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Paul Catholic is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Wolcott at 1:00 p.m. Wolcott comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
