Baseball Recap: Midland Victorious

Midland took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Seneca, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Timberwolves came out on top in a nail-biter against the Fighting Irish on Tuesday, sneaking past 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Timberwolves have posted since April 6, 2024.

Owen LaRoe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. He has become a key player for Midland: the team is 1-0-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-6 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Dom Rosa, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in triples (two). Another player making a difference was Gavin Traver, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Midland's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 3-6-2. As for Seneca, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.
