Recap: Tampa Bay Tech Titans vs. Jones Fightin' Tigers
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Tampa Bay Tech Titans can now relate to. They fell just short of the Fightin' Tigers by a score of 24-21.
When it comes to explaining why Tampa Bay Tech lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Jonye Rosebury. Despite the final result, he rushed for 83 yards and three touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Tampa Bay Tech's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Cyler Ward was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Jones got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dereon Coleman out in front who threw for 266 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerrian Parker, who rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Tampa Bay Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Jones, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-3.
Tampa Bay Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Jones is on the road again on Friday and play against Homestead at 7:30 p.m. on December 1st. Homestead is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Jones a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
