Tullahoma and Marshall County are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Tullahoma Wildcats challenge Marshall County Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tullahoma is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
On Tuesday, everything went Tullahoma's way against Franklin County as Tullahoma made off with a 10-3 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.
Amaya Sharp spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Madison Goad, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Kylee Holt was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Tullahoma was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Marshall County didn't have quite enough to beat Franklin County on Monday and fell 10-9. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Zakiya Taylor was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Carlee Cole also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
The victory got Tullahoma back to even at 5-5. As for Marshall County, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Tullahoma hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Marshall County struggles in that department as they've averaged .329. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Tullahoma came out on top in a nail-biter against Marshall County in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 11-10. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tullahoma since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
