Softball Game Preview: Ludlowe Falcons vs. Darien Blue Wave

Ludlowe is 9-1 against Darien since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Falcons will square off against the Blue Wave at 4:00 p.m. Ludlowe's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Darien's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Ludlowe turned things around against Stamford on Monday. They came out on top against the Black Knights by a score of 7-2.

The team relied heavily on Allie Tournas, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gina Solow, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Darien's offense. They lost 6-0 to Danbury on Monday. Blue Wave fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Hatters since on Monday.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 6-9. As for Darien, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-3.

Ludlowe beat Darien 4-0 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
