Basketball Recap: Bridge to Independence Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Jaydan Jeantinord and Jye Moreno

After flying high against Forest Lake Academy last Tuesday, Bridge to Independence came back down to earth. The Bridge to Independence Wildcats took a 92-79 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Colonial Grenadiers on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while the Grenadiers are ranked 138th).

Bridge to Independence's loss came despite strong showings from Jye Moreno and Jaydan Jeantinord. Moreno went 13 for 22 on his way to 34 points and five steals, while Jeantinord went 5 of 12 en route to 14 points in addition to eight boards and five assists. Those 34 points gave Moreno a new career-high. Brock DAlessandro was another key player, going 5 for 12 on his way to 13 points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Bridge to Independence smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Bridge to Independence's record is now 12-6. As for Colonial, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.

Bridge to Independence didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 81-14 victory against Winter Haven Christian on the 23rd. Colonial has also already played their next contest, a 66-29 win against West Orange on the 23rd.
