Liberty Baptist Academy is a perfect 10-0 against Beaver Dam since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Knights will host the Diamondback at 1:00 p.m. Liberty Baptist Academy knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Beaver Dam likes a good challenge.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Liberty Baptist Academy and Sandy Valley meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Knights never let the Sidewinders get on the board and left with a 20-0 victory. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Sidewinders recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Angelo Tatonetti and Ryan Campbell made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Tatonetti tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Campbell pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Tatonetti has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Tatonetti got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Campbell went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. That home run was Campbell's first of the season.

In other batting news, Bryce Miano and Aiden Schmitz did most of the damage at the plate: Miano went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Schmitz got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Schmitz a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Giannini, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Liberty Baptist Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Beaver Dam got the win against Mountain View Christian on Friday by a conclusive 20-4. That 16 run margin sets a new team best for the Diamondback this season.
Anthony Hermosillo made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Hermosillo was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Beaver Dam got a massive performance out of Aaron Huerta, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Huerta is becoming a predictor of the Diamondback's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 2-13 when he doesn't). Miguel Jauregui was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.
Liberty Baptist Academy pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Beaver Dam, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-14.
Beaver Dam's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Liberty Baptist Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Beaver Dam, though, as they've been averaging 9.1 hits. Given Liberty Baptist Academy's sizable advantage in that area, the Diamondback will need to find a way to close that gap.
Liberty Baptist Academy took their win against Beaver Dam when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-2 score. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Diamondback turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
