Baseball Recap: Doherty Takes a Loss

Doherty scored first but ultimately less than Lakewood in their matchup on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Lakewood Tigers by a score of 5-4. That's two games in a row now that the Spartans have lost by just one run.

Derek Graham was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Giovanni Rishavy, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4.

Doherty now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Lakewood, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-1.

Coming up, Doherty will host Mesa Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lakewood, they will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Paradise Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
