Recap: St. Anthony's Friars vs. Kellenberg Memorial Firebirds
The St. Anthony's Friars were the 72-40 winner over the Kellenberg Memorial Firebirds when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The contest between both teams wasn't particularly close, with St. Anthony's falling 61-47. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points they have scored all season.
Several Friars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tom Snyder, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for him. Chris Welling was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Even though they lost, St. Anthony's were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
St. Anthony's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-4. As for Kellenberg Memorial, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
St. Anthony's is on the road again on Saturday and play against Malverne at 6:30 p.m. on January 6th. As for Kellenberg Memorial, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against St. Mary's at 7:30 p.m.
