Baseball Recap: Golden Valley Comes Up Short

Golden Valley extended their losing streak to nine on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 8-16 in the process. They came up short against the Central Valley Hawks, falling 10-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-0 back in February.

As for Central Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.

For Central Valley's part, they got a great performance from Nicholas Dominguez as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over six innings pitched. Dominguez has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Caden Mendonca was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Mason Whitworth, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Golden Valley has already played their next matchup, a 10-0 defeat against Los Banos on the 28th. As for Central Valley, they will take on Grace Davis at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
