Softball Recap: Marshall Takes a Loss

Marshall fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Bonduel on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bears by a score of 2-1. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2015.

Kennedy Weisensel spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 19 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sydney Stuntebeck was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Marshall and nudges their season record down to 14-8. As for Bonduel, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Marshall will face off against Oconto at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bonduel, they will host Howards Grove at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
