Softball Preview: Monarch Coyotes vs. Broomfield Eagles        
        
		
             Monarch hasn't had much luck against Broomfield recently, but that could start to change  on Thursday. The Monarch Coyotes will look to defend their home field  against the Broomfield Eagles  at 4:00  p.m. Monarch is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1  runs per game  this season.
 Monarch's hitters might be in the hot seat  on Thursday considering what happened against Niwot  on Tuesday. They lost  7-0 to the Cougars. The Coyotes have now  taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
 Meanwhile, Broomfield put another one in the bag  on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Longmont  a   10-0 shutout. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by eight  runs or more this season.
  Delaney Meehan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  didn't allow a single  earned run and  only two  hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't  given up  more than two  hits in three consecutive pitching appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-2 with a  double and  an  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Avery Gines was  incredible,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She is  on a roll when it comes to  stolen bases, as she's  now  stolen  at least one in the last four games she's  played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was  Jenna Kapelke, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 1-for-3.
 Broomfield  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with eight  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Longmont only tossed a.
 Monarch's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Broomfield, they pushed their record up to 16-0 with that  victory, which was their eighth straight  at home dating back to last season.
 Thursday's   game will be a test for both team's pitchers. Monarch hasn't had any issues making contact this season,  having earned a batting average of 0. However, it's not like Broomfield struggles in that department as   they've  averaged 0. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
