The Palmer Trinity Falcons are taking a road trip to challenge the Monte Vista Monarchs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Palmer Trinity is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Palmer Trinity's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over Keys Gate.
The result came thanks to Pedro Castillo's shutout, as he gave up just five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (one).
At the plate, Palmer Trinity saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lorenzo Rodriguez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Monte Vista, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Morse on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Monarchs have posted since April 18, 2024.
Adrian Gutierrez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on one hit and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Damian Ordaz, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.
Palmer Trinity is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. Monte Vista's record now sits at 2-6.
Monte Vista's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Palmer Trinity has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .454. It's a different story for Monte Vista, though, as they've only averaged .323. Will they be able to contain Palmer Trinity's hitters?
